How to Get Your Product Listed on Amazon?

In the modern world, people don’t have much time to go on a shopping spree. But with multiple online shopping options available these days, they can shop at their own time.

On the same note if you’re a seller of a product it is way more fruitful to sell it online than in shops. The online platforms give you a worldwide viewership or at least nationwide. Amazon is one of such online shopping platforms and a great one at that.

Selling your products via the Amazon platform is a great way to showcase your products. There are a few steps that you have to follow to register yourself as a seller on Amazon. Today I am going to discuss these steps in detail.

STEP 1: Creating a Seller Account

First, you need to register yourself or your organization as a seller on Amazon. To do that you will have to provide your Tax Details such as PAN Card, GST Number etc.

And you need a Bank Account to link for Payments. Once you complete the registration process, you will officially become a Seller on Amazon with all its benefits. You will be able to access “Seller Central”.

STEP 2: Detailed Product Information

Now to list your products for selling on Amazon you’ll need to keep some information readily available. First, you need to set the Description of your Product like

  • What is it?
  • What it could be used for
  • If any statutory warning applicable on the product
  • If there is any side effect of your products (Mostly applicable to Medicines, Herbal & Cosmetic Products).

Next, you have to measure one unit of your product for information such as Height, Width, Length, Weight, Colour, Material used if applicable etc.

While listing a product you need to add these details. Next comes the images. You need to get some good quality photos for listing purposes. The more visually appealing they are, the more buyers they will attract.

Some clean photos are required at least. And for clothes, apparels, cosmetics models are recommended. The next part is the categorization of the product.

You have to carefully check and choose the correct category for your product otherwise it will not be visible to customers.

STEP 3: Begin Listing

Now that you have got the details sorted, the next part is listing the product on Amazon. You have to log in to seller central with your credentials.

Go to the inventory menu from the dropdown, select “Add a Product”. You can upload multiple products using the spreadsheet format as well.

If you are trying to list a product that is already available on Amazon, you can search by barcode; if the product is brand new, click on the “New Product Listing” option below the search bar.

Also, there’s an option for “Bulk Upload” to add multiple products at one go. You need to provide primary & secondary categories.

Now in the “Advanced View,” you need to fill up the information regarding the description of the product, variations if any, Offers if any, Vital Informations.

In case you are listing the same type of products varying only a little, you will have to mark the differences in the “Variation” Tab. Now you can upload it & your product is ready for Selling.

That’s it !!! These are the steps you need to follow to get your products listed on Amazon.

Once you start listing, things get easier over time & you’ll become pro in no time.

There is an option “Fulfilled by Amazon” (FBA) for those who want Amazon to handle their sales. All you need to do is, send your products to Amazon Warehouse and they take care of the rest.

But this needs to be done by authorized couriers too with prior appointment. You can’t do it yourself. They charge an amount monthly or on a unit basis. Also, it may take around 30 days for you to be verified by Amazon as a seller.

Amazon may take up to 15% of your total sale. You can show your own product via third-party vendors as well. Amazon transfers money to your bank account every seven days after deducting their fees.  Also, you can check in the Amazon Help Section if you need any help or guidelines to help you sell.
