This leads to the water molecules present in the food to start vibrating. This results in friction between the various water molecules present inside the food and thus ends up heating the food. 

This is also the reason why it is easy to melt things in the microwave oven as well. However, frozen things or things that are dry would not be a convenient option for food to be cooked inside a microwave oven. They would lack the water molecules. To ensure that the food is cooked evenly on every side many microwave ovens provide the option of the plate being rotated inside the appliance.

Are microwave ovens better than conventional ovens?

Standing in today’s time’s microwave ovens seem like quite a better choice than conventional kinds. The following points back up this notion.

  1. Food is cooked faster in microwave ovens.
  2. Since food is cooked at a much faster rate in microwave ovens much lesser nutrients are lost in the process.
  3. Bacteria or any other harmful microorganisms cannot thrive for much longer in the food as it gets cooked easily.
  4. Microwave ovens have produced carbon footprints as they use only electricity.
